Using AI tools in a creative workflow
Decide which production task needs help before choosing a tool. Generating early visual directions is different from preparing an approved campaign asset, and adapting a format is different from making a new product claim. A connected workflow should retain the original brief, the source material and the reason for each variation. This gives reviewers something concrete to assess and gives the campaign team a useful record of what was tested.
How the workflow is structured
Use these points to define the requirements and responsibilities for your setup.
Define the creative task
Specify the audience, offer, channel, format and elements that must remain accurate. Identify the approved source images, copy and brand references.
Create controlled variations
Vary a specific element, such as the opening frame, layout or wording. Keep enough of the asset consistent to understand what the variation is testing.
Review before release
Check product appearance, claims, rights, language and accessibility. Assign a person to approve the final asset before it enters a campaign.
Connect results to the brief
Record which approved version ran and how it performed against the intended objective. Use that evidence to shape the next production brief.
Adapting a product demonstration
A team has an approved product demonstration and needs several social formats. The workflow uses the same product facts and source footage, then develops alternative openings and layouts. Reviewers approve the versions before testing them. Results are compared by the question each version was designed to answer.
What needs agreeing
The supported tools, licensing, permitted source materials, storage and review responsibilities need to be defined for the engagement. AI output still needs human assessment: it may introduce inaccurate details, unsuitable language or visual inconsistencies. Production volume should follow a useful testing plan, rather than becoming an objective by itself.
